History of St Brigid's Primary School.

St Brigid’s is one of two Catholic Primary Schools in the Parish of Gisborne.  In partnership with its sister school, Holy Cross, it operates within the St Brigid’s Parish Community with Fr Gerry Spillane as its pastoral leader. As a parish school, St Brigid’s functions under the direction and support of the Archbishop of Melbourne. Situated within the township of Gisborne, approximately 50 kilometres from Melbourne on the Calder Freeway, the school serves a large commuter population and caters for both urban and semi-rural components of the community.

There has been a Catholic School in the township for over 150 years. During 1994, in response to an expanding community the Parish took the major step of building a second primary school. This project involved the total refurbishment of the existing St Brigid’s school site.  The buildings were completed in 1995.  As a result we now have a modern, flexible educational environment conducive to learning.
